Questions about PrivaLog, your account, or your subscription can be sent here.
No. On iPhone, iPad and Mac you can start writing right away; your diary then stays on that device. You need an account for sync, the web app and Pro.
When you try Pro, the entries on your device move into your new account. If you already have an account, you can merge them into it. When both have an entry on the same day, you choose which one to keep, or keep both.
Nobody can recover or reset it — not PrivaLog, and not anyone with access to the servers.
If your diary still opens on a device, with Face ID or Touch ID or because it is still unlocked, you can keep reading and writing there, and export a readable copy from Settings. You cannot choose a new passphrase without the current one.
On iPhone or iPad: open the Settings app → [your name] → Subscriptions.
On Mac: use your App Store account settings.
Deleting the PrivaLog app or your PrivaLog account does not cancel an Apple subscription.
In the iPhone, iPad, or Mac app, open Settings → Your plan, then tap Restore purchases.
The same button is on the Pro purchase screen.
The trial starts when you choose to try Pro in the app. It needs no payment and does not start a paid subscription; nothing renews.
After 14 days without Pro, you keep writing on iPhone, iPad and Mac. Sync between your devices and writing on the web pause until you choose Pro; your cloud copy stays encrypted and untouched. Entries already synced stay readable on the web.
On iPhone, iPad, and Mac: Settings → Danger zone → Delete account….
On the web: Settings → Delete account.
This permanently deletes your account, diary entries, and encryption setup. Files you already exported stay on your device. If you have an Apple subscription, cancel it separately.
Without an account there is nothing on our servers. Deleting the app removes the diary from that device.
